Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bernard McCurtney (ranked 1326 p4p, 2912 weight class) and Pekka Haalvisto (ranked 103 p4p, 167 weight class). McCurtney comes to the cage accompanied by SMDH. Haalvisto has chosen Fintelligens - Stockholm-Helsinki as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Bernard McCurtney has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Bernard McCurtney seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pekka Haalvisto!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haalvisto tries to clinch
and McCurtney counters with a nice uppercut.
Haalvisto throws a right and a left that McCurtney avoids nicely.
Haalvisto is looking to clinch but McCurtney is avoiding it.
Haalvisto instigates a clinch.
McCurtney softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Haalvisto misses with an elbow strike.
McCurtney manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

McCurtney comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Pekka Haalvisto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McCurtney scores with a jab to the body.
McCurtney throws a body punch but Haalvisto moves out of range.

McCurtney connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Haalvisto has closed the distance and engaged McCurtney in a clinch.

Haalvisto's coach down at Kalashnikov ELITE MMA Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Haalvisto's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
McCurtney breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

McCurtney's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

The fight stays on the outside here - Haalvisto looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
McCurtney looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

and McCurtney counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Haalvisto throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
McCurtney feinted there with a counter leg kick.

McCurtney changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Haalvisto has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from McCurtney finds it's way round the side to connect with Haalvisto's head.
McCurtney is looking to wear down Haalvisto with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
McCurtney throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A nice leg kick from Haalvisto, right into the meat of the thigh.
Haalvisto closes the distance but McCurtney moves to the side
letting McCurtney counter with a right hand.

McCurtney wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McCurtney walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Haalvisto checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
McCurtney misses with a body shot.
McCurtney dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
McCurtney lands a slapping body shot.
McCurtney takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
McCurtney lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Haalvisto tries to clinch up
and McCurtney counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Haalvisto thinking.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Haalvisto tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McCurtney paws at him with a jab and circles away.
McCurtney is looking to counter punch.
McCurtney scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Haalvisto doesn't seem bothered though.
McCurtney moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Haalvisto shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.
Haalvisto takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
