This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 2 losses; Tommy Carter! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 2 losses; Bruce Wayne! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Excellent takedown into side control there by Wayne. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Carter (0) vs (4) Wayne The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Wayne wants to control but Carter is keeping him busy. Wayne tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. You can see the frustration on Carter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Carter gets back to half guard. Wayne is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carter slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Wayne wants to pass the guard but Carter is keeping the position. Wayne drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Carter dives on top into guard. Wayne is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Carter pulls his head out easily. Carter is looking to stall here but Wayne recovers full guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Carter trying to control but Wayne is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter tries to free his leg and advance position but Wayne is retaining full guard. Wayne has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Carter is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Wayne. Carter wants to control but Wayne is keeping him busy. Carter is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Wayne is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Carter controlling the position easily from mount. Wayne prevents Carter from taking his back.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Carter tries to control but Wayne wriggling away. Carter wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Wayne really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Carter swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Wayne is now in Carter's guard. A big mistake from Carter there, giving up the dominant position! That's nine minutes gone in the round. Carter keeping moving, preventing Wayne from controlling successfully. Carter keeping full guard, as Wayne tries to pass. Wayne is sitting in close to Carter's body. Carter has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Wayne is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Wayne is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Carter.
