Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jimar Kinkead (ranked 968 p4p, 502 weight class) and Lawson Serrano (ranked 113 p4p, 64 weight class). Kinkead kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is No Sunshine. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimar Kinkead! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lawson Serrano! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kinkead displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Serrano. Serrano will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. No luck with that takedown attempt from Serrano. Kinkead wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Jimar Kinkead has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lawson Serrano. Serrano misses with a takedown attempt and Kinkead connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. No luck with that takedown attempt from Serrano. Kinkead wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Serrano shoots in but Kinkead avoids the takedown attempt easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No luck for Serrano with that takedown attempt. Serrano closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Serrano not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Serrano thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kinkead's head. Kinkead is trying to get back to full guard. Kinkead has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Kinkead has a hand on Serrano's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Serrano takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Serrano lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Kinkead hang on? Kinkead wants to get back to his feet.
Serrano scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Serrano lands a heavy elbow. Kinkead is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Kinkead holds on for dear life, controlling Serrano's posture momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kinkead regains half guard. Kinkead looking for submissions off his back. Serrano has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Serrano not landing any meaningful shots this time. Kinkead is not content to let Serrano control the position. Serrano tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kinkead knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Serrano takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kinkead tries to roll over but Serrano keeps him under control. Serrano wants to pass to mount but Kinkead is defending the position. Kinkead is looking to improve his position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Serrano lands a nice short elbow. Serrano is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Serrano working the head and body with strikes. Kinkead manages to get to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Serrano stands up over Kinkead, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Serrano postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Kinkead looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Kinkead has his foot on Serrano's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Serrano works his way back into a safe position though. Kinkead is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Serrano is controlling him. Kinkead tries to land a sweep but no joy. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Serrano distracts Kinkead with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Kinkead working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Serrano doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Serrano manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Lawson Serrano dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Kinkead stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kinkead wants it to stay on the feet. Kinkead attempts a counter takedown but Serrano avoids it well and moves away. Serrano shoots in but no luck this time. Serrano takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Serrano looks for a takedown but Kinkead sprawls well. Kinkead is looking to counter the offense by Serrano and move into the clinch. Jimar Kinkead has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lawson Serrano. Serrano fails with a takedown attempt. An attempted straight right counter from Kinkead misses the target. Serrano dives in for a single leg takedown but Kinkead sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Kinkead tries to counter with a takedown but Serrano is quick to defend against it. Kinkead gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Serrano trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Serrano is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Kinkead had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Serrano defends it easily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Serrano with a flurry of punches that miss. Serrano trying to control but Kinkead is working from the bottom. Kinkead looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Serrano scoring with punches to the head and body. Serrano passes easily into side control. Nice work. Kinkead tries to improve position but can't. Serrano working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Serrano working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Kinkead can't do much from the bottom here. Serrano trying to control the action but Kinkead is working from the bottom. Serrano lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kinkead down.
Serrano is working Kinkead over with some ground and pound from side control. Kinkead sneaks back into half guard. Serrano looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kinkead with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kinkead scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Serrano manages to mount him!
Kinkead taking shots to the head. Kinkead wants to control but Serrano is having none of it. Serrano has been the more effective fighter overall so far. BOOM! Serrano connects with a massive shot to the dome!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Serrano raining down shots from the mount! Serrano looking to finish Kinkead with some ground and pound. This is bad for Kinkead!
Kinkead is rocked! Lawson Serrano has got the better of the ground game so far. Serrano prevents Kinkead from getting the reversal. Oh Kinkead is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Serrano cracks Kinkead with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lawson Serrano! Lawson Serrano decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
