Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between BJ Penn (ranked 3985 p4p, 4149 weight class) and John Taylor (ranked 322 p4p, 343 weight class). Penn comes to the cage accompanied by Hawaii '78. John Taylor told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, BJ Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Taylor!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Richard Clark and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Donk. Penn catches Taylor right on the button with a cross.
Taylor misses with a takedown attempt
and Penn counters with a shoot takedown. Taylor fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Taylor is on top in guard.
Taylor working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Taylor missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Taylor postures up in Penn's guard and throws a big left but Penn blocks it.
Penn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Taylor gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Penn has his feet on Taylor's thighs here. He's pushed Taylor off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Taylor screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). BJ Penn!
A relieved looking BJ Penn thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
