PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Thor White (ranked 1446 p4p, 1593 weight class) and Bruce Kiwi (ranked 167 p4p, 187 weight class). Kiwi has chosen Reaper as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thor White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruce Kiwi!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Radbod Blank and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from White misses.
White throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A good leg kick by Kiwi.
Kiwi dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on White. That did some damage!

Bruce Kiwi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kiwi closes the distance and pushes White back into the cage.
White tries to pull guard but Kiwi holds him up against the cage and eventually White drops back down to his feet.
A head punch blocked on the inside by White.
White blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kiwi.
White tries to work over Kiwi's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Kiwi lands with a left to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
White tries to pull guard but Kiwi forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

White jumps guard and drags Kiwi to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

White working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kiwi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kiwi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
White wants to control the position but Kiwi says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Kiwi wants to stand but his hand is trapped. White uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
White has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

White uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kiwi.

Kiwi throws a low kick but it's checked well by White.
Kiwi lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
White misses with an uppercut.
White loads up on a big right hand but Kiwi slips the punch.
White takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Kiwi misses the jab.
Kiwi bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
White throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A countering left hand to the body from Kiwi misses.
Kiwi connects with a solid leg kick.
White ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kiwi moves away.
Kiwi tests White's chin there with a solid looking shot.
White's corner calls for a 1-2. White obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

White is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

White lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
You can see the frustration on Kiwi's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Bruce Kiwi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

White digs a right hand into Kiwi's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Kiwi's gas tank.
White is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Kiwi is leaning against White and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
White gets through Kiwi's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

White moves out of range as Kiwi strikes.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well Kiwi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
