PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arvin Mootoosamy (ranked 3805 p4p, 3855 weight class) and Aron Koller (ranked 416 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Arvin Mootoosamy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Aron Koller!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mootoosamy throws a head kick but Koller moves out of range.

Koller shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Koller was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mootoosamy bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Mootoosamy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mootoosamy quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Koller throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Nice takedown defense from Koller. No joy for Mootoosamy on that attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mootoosamy seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mootoosamy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Mootoosamy throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Koller to regain full guard.
Mootoosamy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Koller's guard.

Koller is looking to control Mootoosamy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Koller avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mootoosamy wants to control but Koller is keeping him busy.
Koller is looking for a sweep. Mootoosamy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mootoosamy perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mootoosamy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Koller, pushing him back against the cage.

Mootoosamy manages to break the clinch.

Mootoosamy looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Koller!

Koller is not content to let Mootoosamy control the position.

Mootoosamy decides to stand up, so the ref orders Koller to his feet.

Mootoosamy dives in and grabs Koller's left leg, looking for a takedown. Koller pushes down on Mootoosamy's head and hops out.

Koller stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mootoosamy swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Koller feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Koller closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mootoosamy quickly recovers to half guard.
Mootoosamy tries to kick Koller off in order to stand up. Koller Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Koller should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Koller works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Mootoosamy tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Koller wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Koller is chipping away with strikes.

Koller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mootoosamy keeps working.
Mootoosamy on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Koller is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mootoosamy has escaped the position, nice work there.
Mootoosamy is working to avoid the ground and pound but Koller connects with a decent elbow.

Mootoosamy is looking for a sweep.

Koller decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Koller shoots in looking for a takedown. Mootoosamy tries to sprawl out of it but Koller keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mootoosamy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mootoosamy appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

Koller closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Koller lands in his opponent's guard.

Mootoosamy has his feet on Koller's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

And that's the end of the fight!
Arvin Mootoosamy showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Mootoosamy has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
