Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Oreo Hopgood (ranked 1030 p4p, 510 weight class) and Don Rockmuller (ranked 136 p4p, 70 weight class). Hopgood's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Don't Stop The Music - Rihanna. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hopgood scores with a shot to the body.
Rockmuller tests Hopgood's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Hopgood throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And Rockmuller tries to counter it with a takedown but Hopgood pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hopgood ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rockmuller moves away.
Hopgood darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Rockmuller avoids the body shot from Hopgood.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hopgood slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

We've been hearing good reports from Hopgood's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Rockmuller working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Hopgood is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rockmuller pulls his head out easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rockmuller stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hopgood swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rockmuller got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hopgood has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rockmuller has managed to get both his arms back between Hopgood's legs - danger averted.
Rockmuller must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Rockmuller wants to control from the top but Hopgood keeps moving.
Hopgood is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That was a close round but I would say that Oreo Hopgood will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Rockmuller has Hopgood up against the cage in a clinch.
Hopgood tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Hopgood pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Hopgood lands a left hand.

Rockmuller manages to break the clinch.
Hopgood tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rockmuller swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hopgood shoots for a takedown but Rockmuller saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rockmuller is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Hopgood fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rockmuller avoids it really well and circles away.

Rockmuller decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Don Rockmuller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Rockmuller looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hopgood with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hopgood is pressing down on Rockmuller's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hopgood is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Rockmuller to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Rockmuller shrugs it off.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hopgood cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Rockmuller is desperately trying to improve his position but Hopgood has a good base and remains in mount.
