Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zakattack Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nils Kolzig (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simmons comes to the cage accompanied by throw it in the bag. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Simmons tries a head kick but it misses.
Zakattack Simmons seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Simmons throws a right and a left that Kolzig avoids nicely. Simmons throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kolzig shoots in and drives through. Simmons sprawls well. Kolzig looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Kolzig passes Simmons's left leg - he's now in half guard. Simmons pushes Kolzig off looking to stand but Kolzig dives back in and keeps control.

That's one minute gone in the round. Simmons keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Kolzig throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Simmons is pressing down on Kolzig's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kolzig trying to control the position from guard on top but Simmons is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kolzig trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Kolzig has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. A combination from Simmons does no damage. No joy there for Simmons, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Simmons looks for the body kick but Kolzig saw that one coming. Simmons looks to land a combination but Kolzig avoids it well. Kolzig looks to score with a jab to the body but Simmons is just out of range. Simmons defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kolzig. Simmons throws a right hand that Kolzig ducks under and follows up with a left that Kolzig also avoids with ease. Kolzig shoots in looking for a takedown. Simmons tries to sprawl out of it but Kolzig keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Simmons manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Zakattack Simmons has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nils Kolzig. Kolzig shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Simmons sprawls well. Simmons wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kolzig gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kolzig checks a low kick from Simmons. Simmons jabs Kolzig right on the nose. Kolzig blinks but takes it well. Simmons fails to land with a series of punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Simmons looks to land a right hand but Kolzig moved out of range. Kolzig shoots in for a takedown but Simmons shows good takedown defense. Simmons gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kolzig counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Simmons keeping full guard, as Kolzig tries to pass. Kolzig is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Simmons is looking for a triangle here but Kolzig uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nils Kolzig dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Simmons with a poor takedown and Kolzig counters with a shoot takedown. Simmons fights it but they end up in guard. Simmons keeping moving, preventing Kolzig from controlling successfully. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Kolzig pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Simmons is keeping the position for now. Kolzig's corner is telling him to maintain position. Simmons has his foot on Kolzig's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kolzig works his way back into a safe position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kolzig advances to half guard. Kolzig throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Kolzig is looking for a kimura but Simmons is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kolzig to get the leverage. Kolzig controlling the action here. Simmons is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kolzig scores with a couple of nice shots. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kolzig is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Simmons defends it well. Simmons actively working from the bottom here. Kolzig trying to control the action but Simmons is working from the bottom. Kolzig is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Simmons is staying active underneath Kolzig, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Kolzig is trying to work for a kimura but Simmons is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Despite being in the dominant position, Nils Kolzig just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kolzig closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Zakattack Simmons is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kolzig slips a straight right by Simmons. Simmons misses with a looping left. Simmons scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Kolzig shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Simmons is trying desperately to improve position. Simmons could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Simmons flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

Nils Kolzig showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Kolzig shoots for a takedown but Simmons saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Simmons swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Kolzig misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Simmons misses with a double jab
and Kolzig counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Kolzig forces his way into half guard. Kolzig is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Simmons is just riding it out for now. Kolzig eventually gives up the hold. Simmons has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Kolzig escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Kolzig! Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simmons tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kolzig wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Simmons is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Kolzig has just dragged him back down to the mat. Kolzig misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Kolzig is working Simmons over with some ground and pound from side control. Simmons is trying to get back to his feet. Simmons being controlled for a moment. Kolzig is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Simmons has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sloppy strikes there by Kolzig. Kolzig trying to control the position but Simmons is working away. Kolzig tries for a kimura but Simmons is defending well. Simmons tries to buck Kolzig off but Kolzig is having none of it. Nils Kolzig is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kolzig controlling from side mount. Simmons throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land. Kolzig taking a breather here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Kolzig is trying to get an arm triangle but Simmons is defending well. Kolzig is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Simmons knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Kolzig wants to control but Simmons is keeping him busy.
And that's the end of the fight! Nils Kolzig comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Kolzig winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
