This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 55 wins and 24 losses; Jackson Hole! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 76 wins and 25 losses; Rumsfeld Shart! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Robert Twigg.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Shart shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hole manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Hole (0) vs (2) Shart Shart trying to control but Hole is working from the bottom. Hole might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Hole is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Hole (2) vs (2) Shart Shart felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Hole is pressing down on Shart's thigh, looking to free his foot. Shart is holding on for now. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Hole trying to control from half guard but Shart is working away. Hole seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Hole is looking to stall here but Shart recovers full guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shart keeping moving, preventing Hole from controlling successfully. Shart tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hole is stalling in the full guard. Hole postures up.
Hole content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Shart has locked up a guillotine! Shart's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Hole is holding on here and Shart must be using up a lot of energy. Hole has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Shart gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
