PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Forrest Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zack Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Forrest Slice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zack Knight!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slice throws a right and a left that both miss.
Slice tries to close the distance and clinch but Knight swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Knight tries to score a power double leg takedown but Slice sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Knight somewhat.
Forrest Slice seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slice throws a right hand that Knight ducks under and follows up with a left that Knight also avoids with ease.
Slice misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Knight slips a jab and a cross from Slice.
Knight fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Slice swinging wilding here.
Slice throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Knight fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Forrest Slice has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zack Knight.
Slice throws a hook but Knight avoids it easily.
Knight shoots for a double leg takedown but Slice sprawls well. He's pushed Knight's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The fighters circling - Slice throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Knight avoids a punch combination nicely.
Slice misses with the combination.
Slice rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Knight moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Knight shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Slice pinned against the cage. Slice gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Knight will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Slice throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Knight sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Slice tries to close the distance and clinch but Knight swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A right-left combo lands from Slice.
Knight takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Slice misses with the combination.
Slice is breathing heavily.

Knight showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Slice.
Slice shoots in for a double leg but Knight sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Slice swinging wilding here.
Slice misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Knight fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Slice sprawls well initially but Knight persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Knight is keen to just control but Slice is a slippery customer.

Knight looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Knight stops Slice from getting back to his feet.

Knight is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Slice defends it well.
Slice won't allow Knight to pass to mount.
Slice is trying to stand up here but Knight is controlling him well.
Knight not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Knight wants to control but Slice is keeping him busy.
Slice wants to get back to his feet.

Knight is trying to work for a kimura but Slice is defending well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Slice is looking to escape.

Knight is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Slice is just riding it out for now. Knight eventually gives up the hold.

Knight is working for a submission of some sort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Zack Knight will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Slice looks to land a combination. Knight sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Slice moves into range and connects with a jab.
Slice swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Knight dodges the punch combination from Slice.
Slice throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Knight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Knight on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Knight closes the distance and clinches up with Slice, looking for a takedown. Knight pushes Slice against the cage but Slice circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Slice could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Slice tries to clinch up but Knight circles away and keeps his distance.
Slice doesn't manage to clinch there - Knight circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Knight avoids a punch combination nicely.

Knight closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Knight prevents Slice from escaping the position.

Knight tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Slice gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Knight throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Slice because Knight loaded up on that one.
Slice on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Slice tries to get out of the position.
Slice is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Knight looking to secure an arm triangle but Slice defends it well.

Knight is going olschool here, as he tries to force Slice to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Slice shrugs it off.

Knight has control of Slice's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Slice regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Slice is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Knight wants to finish this one by submission but Slice is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Knight.

Knight trying to control but Slice is having none of it.
Knight throws a wild left hand from mount and Slice manages to wriggle his way back to half guard.

Knight is looking for a kimura but Slice is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Knight to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Knight trying to control the action but Slice is working from the bottom.
Slice is trying to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zack Knight showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Slice goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Slice stuffs the takedown.
Slice misses the shot to the body.
Knight dives in and grabs Slice's left leg, looking for a takedown. Slice pushes down on Knight's head and hops out.
Slice scores with a one two! Knight had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Slice fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Knight, pushing him back against the cage.
Slice changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Knight fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Knight shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Slice sprawls well. Slice wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Knight gets slowly back to his feet.
Forrest Slice has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zack Knight.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Slice throws a right and a left that Knight avoids nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Knight.
Slice lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Knight circles away quickly and effectively.
Slice stuffs the takedown.
Knight keeps the fight on the outside.
Slice tries to bum rush Knight with a series of wild strikes but Knight uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Knight changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Slice tries to avoid it but Knight manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Slice to the ground. Slice escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Slice fails with an attempt to clinch.
Slice tries to clinch but Knight moves out of range.
Slice misses with a double jab.
Forrest Slice is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Knight fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Knight slips a jab and a cross from Slice.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Knight dodges the punch combination from Slice.
Knight takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Slice throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Knight looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Slice is fending him off so far but Knight persists. Nope, Slice circles away and we're back to standing.

Knight shoots in for a takedown but Slice shows good takedown defense.

Nice takedown defense from Slice. No joy for Knight on that attempt.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Slice.

Knight gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Knight escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Slice misses with the combination.
Slice will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Knight fails with a takedown attempt.
Knight slips a jab and a cross from Slice.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Knight fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Forrest Slice has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Knight is defended easily by Slice.
Slice tries to clinch up.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Knight fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Slice scores with a shot to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
Forrest Slice showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Knight has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
