Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kobe Mejia (ranked 3727 p4p, 3761 weight class) and Nico Wong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Nico Wong was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kobe Mejia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nico Wong! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Sano and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wong has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mejia breaks the clinch.
Mejia throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Wong needs to keep his hands up - Mejia had a free shot at his head there. Mejia throws a hook to the side of Wong's head but Wong sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Mejia throws an overhand right that lands on Wong's shoulder, as Wong tries to avoid the shot. Nice defenses there by Wong. Mejia gets tackled into the cage by Wong. Wong maintains the clinch. Wong comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Mejia misses with an uppercut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mejia paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Wong closes the distance and pushes Mejia back into the cage. Mejia managing to block the knees to the body from Wong.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mejia blocks an elbow strike. Wong pushes off an throws an elbow but Mejia leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Wong misses with an elbow strike.

Mejia breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A jab from Mejia misses. Wong slips a straight right by Mejia. Wong gets in close and instigates a clinch. Mejia is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. A nice glancing elbow lands by Wong. Mejia breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kobe Mejia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wong bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Wong takes one to the side of the head.
Mejia misses with an uppercut. Wong saw that one coming. Mejia takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Mejia scores with a hook to the body. Wong takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The fight moves into the clinch position. Mejia is trying to break the clinch but Wong is controlling him. Mejia blocks an elbow strike. Wong has Mejia pressed against the cage, preventing Mejia from circling away and getting back to striking at range. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Wong just misses with a elbow thrown towards Mejia's brow. Wong misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Mejia.

Mejia's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Mejia jabs at Wong's body. Wong looks winded! Mejia throws a head kick that misses. Mejia cracks Wong with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Wong looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Mejia finish him?
Wong is rocked!
It looks like Nico Wong has been cut. Mejia darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Wong's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Mejia before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kobe Mejia!
