Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hendrix Villareiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jefrey Van Bone! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Seu Braga and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van Bone changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Villareiz tries to avoid it but Van Bone manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Villareiz to the ground. Villareiz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Van Bone fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Van Bone bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Van Bone thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Van Bone is trying to get an arm triangle but Villareiz is defending well. Villareiz pushes Van Bone away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Van Bone gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Van Bone looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Villareiz is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Van Bone has just dragged him back down to the mat. Villareiz is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Van Bone thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's one minute gone in the round. Van Bone tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Van Bone has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Van Bone looks gassed! Villareiz can't do much from the bottom here. Villareiz is looking to regain half guard here but Van Bone keeps moving and retains side control. Van Bone is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Villareiz knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Villareiz gets back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Villareiz regains full guard. Nicely done. Villareiz trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Villareiz trying to keep a closed guard but Van Bone is proving a slippery customer.
Van Bone thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Villareiz is trying to control the position but Van Bone postures up. Van Bone has gone for a leg lock! Villareiz slips out almost immediately though and dives into Van Bone's guard. Van Bone looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Van Bone looking for a guillotine here but Villareiz defends easily.

Villareiz decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Van Bone, up you get! Van Bone keeps the fight on the outside. Hendrix Villareiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Van Bone gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Van Bone has a closed guard, preventing Villareiz from standing up. Villareiz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Van Bone on the ground. Van Bone has his foot on Villareiz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Villareiz works his way back into a safe position though. Van Bone looking for a sweep. Not yet Van Bone, not yet. Villareiz postures up in Van Bone's guard and throws a big left but Van Bone blocks it. Van Bone is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Van Bone keeping moving, preventing Villareiz from controlling successfully. Van Bone has an active guard here but Villareiz has managed to pass into half guard.

A close round but Jefrey Van Bone will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Van Bone shoots and misses and Villareiz counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Villareiz is keen to just control but Van Bone is a slippery customer. The fighters are battling for position here. Van Bone manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Villareiz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Villareiz is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Villareiz has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Van Bone is proving hard to escape from. Villareiz is sitting in close to Van Bone's body. Van Bone has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Villareiz is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Villareiz is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Van Bone.
