This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Bruno Barrera! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Bagwell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Barrera wants to clinch up but Bagwell keeps it at a distance. Barrera moves into range and clinches up with Bagwell. Barrera tries to pull guard but Bagwell forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Barrera tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bagwell smiles and moves away.
Biff Bagwell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruno Barrera. Bagwell clinches with his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bagwell has clasped his hands together around Barrera's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Bagwell (4) vs (0) Barrera Bagwell taking a breather here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barrera wants to control but Bagwell postures up. Bagwell is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Barrera has escaped the position, nice work there. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Barrera can do anything to dispel that myth. Bagwell working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Bagwell staying calm.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barrera is looking to regain half guard here but Bagwell keeps moving and retains side control. Barrera really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bagwell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Bagwell controls the position. Barrera is looking to reverse the position. Bagwell trying to control the position but Barrera is working away. Bagwell tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bagwell has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
