And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Charles Mendoza! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Kurtanidze swats away the attempt to clinch by Mendoza. Mendoza fails to land the takedown. Kurtanidze fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mendoza to the ground. Kurtanidze is now in Mendoza's guard. It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Mendoza's shoulder. That is not cool. Kurtanidze working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Mendoza is trying to control Kurtanidze's posture but Kurtanidze avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kurtanidze is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mendoza is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Kurtanidze is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mendoza knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Kurtanidze wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mendoza, who protects the arm well. Kurtanidze tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Mendoza seems a little lost for a moment, as Kurtanidze dominates the positioning.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kurtanidze is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mendoza is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. You can see the frustration on Mendoza's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Kurtanidze thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kurtanidze advances to mount. Score +2 for reaching mount: Kurtanidze (7) vs (0) Mendoza Kurtanidze working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Kurtanidze wants to finish this one by submission but Mendoza is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kurtanidze. Kurtanidze with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Kurtanidze jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mendoza manages to avoid the submission attempt. Mendoza tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Kurtanidze is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Mendoza is trying to escape and Kurtanidze transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Mendoza is forced to tap! Nice work there by Kurtanidze! Very nice indeed!
