The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Burger clinches. Burger is fighting off a takedown attempt but Mcgillicutty is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Burger to the mat. Burger regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Mcgillicutty (2) vs (0) Burger The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mcgillicutty controlling from the top position. Mcgillicutty preventing the sweep. Burger is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Burger wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Mcgillicutty is now in half guard. Burger is trying to control but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Burger wants to get back to full guard. Mcgillicutty wants to free his trapped foot but Burger is holding on for dear life with his legs. Burger looking for subs from the bottom but Mcgillicutty mounts him! That's one minute gone in the round. Mcgillicutty controlling from the full mount. Mcgillicutty trying to control but he's not successful this time. Burger is trying desperately to improve position. Burger stops Mcgillicutty from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Burger is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mcgillicutty keeps control of the position easily here as Burger tries to buck him off.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mcgillicutty working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Mcgillicutty is riding his opponent, not letting Burger buck him off. Mcgillicutty's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Mcgillicutty patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Burger trying to control the position but Mcgillicutty manages to sink in the hooks. I really don't envy Burger right now.
Mcgillicutty is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Burger is defending well though. Mcgillicutty let's go of the attempt for now.

Mcgillicutty is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. I really don't envy Burger right now.
Mcgillicutty wants to control but Burger is keeping busy. Mcgillicutty has the hooks in. Burger is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. A bit of a pause in the action here. Mcgillicutty controlling the positon. Mcgillicutty tries to get the hooks in deep but Burger pushed the leg off. Mcgillicutty seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
