Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Melendez shoots in looking for a takedown but De Lima manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Melendez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. De Lima clinches up against the cage. Melendez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
De Lima jumps guard but Melendez turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. De Lima gets control of Melendez's arms and successfully pulls guard. De Lima will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. De Lima working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Melendez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Melendez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. De Lima bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Melendez's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. De Lima trying to control the position from guard on top but Melendez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. De Lima passes Melendez's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. De Lima is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Melendez is just riding it out for now. De Lima eventually gives up the hold. De Lima moves into full mount! Melendez won't be happy about that! Score +3 for passing guard: Melendez (0) vs (5) De Lima De Lima is working for a guillotine from mount but Melendez frees his head quite easily.
Melendez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for De Lima on the ground. De Lima wants to take Melendez's back here but Melendez is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
De Lima manages to capitalize on a mistake by Melendez to take his back! Score +3 for taking back: Melendez (0) vs (8) De Lima

De Lima is cranking Melendez's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Melendez! He's tightened the choke and Melendez is tapping out!
