Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Ray Watcher (ranked 2874 p4p, 3311 weight class) and Jun Romero (ranked 340 p4p, 382 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jimmy Ray Watcher! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jun Romero! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Steven Brown and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Watcher fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Romero avoids it really well and circles away. Romero gets the takedown into side control. Watcher is letting Romero control him for a moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Romero working the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Watcher tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Romero wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Romero staying calm. Watcher prevents Romero from improving position. Romero lands an elbow. Watcher takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Romero has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Watcher! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Romero lands a couple of good shots and Watcher has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Romero has the hooks in. Watcher is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Romero scores with punches and elbows. Romero loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Watcher hold on?

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Watcher gets back to full guard.
Romero must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Watcher tries to land a sweep but no joy. Watcher is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Romero is aware though and is defending well. Watcher looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Romero slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Watcher will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Romero is defended easily by Watcher. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Jun Romero dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Romero tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Watcher defends well and Romero ends up having to push Watcher into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Watcher stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Watcher wants it to stay on the feet. Romero shoots in for a takedown but Watcher shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Watcher feinted with a counter takedown. Jimmy Ray Watcher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jun Romero. Romero misses with a takedown attempt and Watcher connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Romero changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Watcher tries to avoid it but Romero manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Watcher to the ground. Watcher escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Watcher drops down looking for a counter takedown but Romero sprawls and moves away. Watcher goes for a double leg but Romero avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Romero continues to drive forward. Romero is looking to take this one to the mat. Romero tries to score a body lock takedown but Watcher shows good agility there to stay on his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Romero drops down looking for an ankle pick but Watcher pulls his leg out and moves away.

That's one minute gone in the round. Romero with a lazy takedown attempt and Watcher decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Romero's guard. Watcher sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Romero's guard. Romero tries to roll over but Watcher keeps him under control. Watcher moves nicely into side control. Watcher working the ground and pound. Watcher looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Watcher advances to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Watcher wants to control the pace but Romero is squirming around nicely. Watcher throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Romero has his hands clasped together but Watcher breaks the hold and Romero is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Watcher!
