Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tom Korppila (ranked 935 p4p, 599 weight class) and Journey Sky (ranked 104 p4p, 68 weight class). Korppila comes to the cage accompanied by Mustasch - The Mauler. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Korppila! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Journey Sky! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Korppila shoots in looking for a takedown but Sky manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Korppila's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Korppila shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sky sprawls well. Sky wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Korppila gets slowly back to his feet. Korppila shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sky but Sky pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom Korppila. That's going to take a lot out of him. A jab from Korppila finds it's way through Sky's defenses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Korppila throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Sky looks like he wants to counter punch here. Korppila catches Sky right on the button with a cross. Korppila dives in for a single leg takedown but Sky sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Korppila drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sky pulls his leg out and moves away.
Sky slaps away a takedown attempt from Korppila, before circling back to the center of the mat. A nice side step and Sky releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Korppila has been working on his balance at Bowsh Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Sky. Tom Korppila seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice sprawl there from Sky as Korppila shoots in. Sky appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sky tries to roll over but Korppila keeps him under control. Sky is not content to let Korppila control the position. Sky is looking to escape. Korppila not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Korppila lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Korppila thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sky is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Korppila scores with a couple of nice shots. Sky trying to hold on to Korppila's head to control him but Korppila postures up.
Sky is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Korppila is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Korppila with the ground and pound but Sky uses the opportunity to regain guard. Korppila trying to control the position from guard on top but Sky is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Korppila with a nice head shot there. Korppila trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Korppila wants to control from the top but Sky keeps moving. Korppila has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Sky utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Sky controlling the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Korppila dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Korppila takes a swing at Sky's ribcage but misses. Sky is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Korppila with a body shot. Korppila slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Tom Korppila will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Korppila drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sky throws Korppila to one side and escapes! Sky stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sky wants it to stay on the feet. A bone on bone clash there as Sky blocks the leg kick.

Korppila tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Sky defends well and Korppila ends up having to push Sky into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Korppila tries to pull guard but Sky won't allow it.

Korppila shoots in for a takedown but Sky shows good takedown defense. Sky doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Korppila doesn't succeed with the takedown and Sky counters with a nice right hand that sends Korppila toppling to the canvas! Korppila scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Sky finish him?!
Korppila is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Korppila swings for the body but Sky moves out of range.

Journey Sky seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website. Tom Korppila spoke after the fight, saying 'Well didn’t that suck? He may have beaten me, but could he outwrestle a bear? I don’t think so.'.
