Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nicholas Thibeau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hector Cotto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thibeau kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Amazing - Kanye West . The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nicholas Thibeau! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hector Cotto! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Russell Pearce and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice defenses there by Thibeau. Cotto tries to bum rush Thibeau with a series of wild strikes but Thibeau uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Donk. Thibeau catches Cotto right on the button with a cross. Thibeau walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Cotto checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Thibeau slips a jab and a cross from Cotto.
Thibeau lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Thibeau lands with a straight right. Cotto didn't see that one coming. Cotto shoots for a double leg takedown but Thibeau sprawls well. He's pushed Cotto's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Nicholas Thibeau seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cotto fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Cotto lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Thibeau circles away quickly and effectively. Cotto blocks the body kick.
Thibeau lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Cotto backs up against the cage.
Thibeau looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. A punch combination from Thibeau misses. Thibeau catches Cotto with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Thibeau cracks Cotto with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Thibeau gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Cotto counters with a single leg into guard. Thibeau didn't expect that. Cotto trying to control the position from guard on top but Thibeau is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cotto loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cotto wants to pass the guard but Thibeau is keeping the position. Cotto sitting in guard here, content to control. Cotto trying to control but Thibeau is working from the bottom. Cotto working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Thibeau's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Cotto wants to pass the guard but Thibeau is keeping the position. Cotto has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Cotto with a nice head shot there. Thibeau is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Thibeau wants to get up but he can't break Cotto's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Cotto is looking for a triangle but Thibeau pushes his legs off easily.

Cotto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Thibeau's guard. Cotto trying to control but Thibeau is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thibeau seems keen to control Cotto's posture. Cotto trying to control but Thibeau is working from the bottom. Cotto is looking to work some ground and pound but Thibeau has wrist control. Cotto looking to sit in guard and control but Thibeau gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Cotto has an active guard here but Thibeau has managed to pass into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hector Cotto dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Thibeau tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Cotto walks into a straight right hand from Thibeau. Thibeau wants to clinch but Cotto slips to the side and Cotto counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Thibeau! Cotto working for a guillotine from mount but Thibeau is in no mood to give up. A nice elbow there by Cotto. Cotto sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Cotto misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Thibeau tries to lock up and control but Cotto gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Thibeau is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cotto thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Cotto throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Cotto lands with some strikes. Cotto looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Thibeau wants to try and get back to his feet. Thibeau suckers Cotto into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Thibeau is now in Cotto's guard!

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Cotto looking for subs off his back but Thibeau has passed one foot through into half guard.
Cotto is breathing heavily. Cotto wants to improve his position but Thibeau is controlling well.
Cotto throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Thibeau tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Cotto.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cotto is looking for a sweep. Thibeau is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cotto is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Thibeau does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Nicholas Thibeau is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cotto throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Thibeau misses with a head kick.
Thibeau tries to clinch up and Cotto counters with a left and a right that stings Thibeau. Cotto stuffs the takedown. Cotto stalks Thibeau and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Thibeau's face. Thibeau staggers backwards, shaken. Cotto throws a right and a left that Thibeau avoids nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A bone on bone clash there as Cotto blocks the leg kick.
A big left from Thibeau misses. Cotto loads up on a big right hand but Thibeau slips the punch. Thibeau looks to land a left hand but Cotto moved out of range nicely. Thibeau shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cotto sprawls well. Cotto wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Thibeau gets slowly back to his feet. Cotto shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cotto showed some decent athleticism there. Cotto is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Thibeau is defending against the submission attempts here by Cotto.

Hector Cotto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Cotto slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Cotto shoots in and drives through. Thibeau sprawls well. Thibeau slaps away a takedown attempt from Cotto, before circling back to the center of the mat. Thibeau uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cotto. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thibeau scores with a jab to the head.
Cotto fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Nicholas Thibeau has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hector Cotto. Cotto looks to score with a jab to the body but Thibeau is just out of range. Cotto takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Cotto shoots in looking for a takedown. Thibeau tries to sprawl out of it but Cotto keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Thibeau manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thibeau lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Thibeau. Thibeau moves in looking to clinch but Cotto pushes him off. Thibeau scores with a decent looking hook. Thibeau misses with a takedown attempt and Cotto counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Thibeau! Cotto avoids the attempt from Thibeau to control. Cotto goes for an armbar but Thibeau turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Thibeau. Thibeau preventing the sweep. Thibeau has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cotto can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Thibeau controls the pace. Cotto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Cotto working a defensive guard here.

Cotto wants to control the pace but Thibeau is squirming around nicely. Nicholas Thibeau has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Cotto punching from mount but Thibeau doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Cotto swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Thibeau is now in Cotto's guard. A big mistake from Cotto there, giving up the dominant position!
And that's the end of the fight! Hector Cotto comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Cotto has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
