Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Craig Marduk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Ramirez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marduk comes to the cage accompanied by DMX - Intro. Ramirez has chosen Judas Priest - Painkiller as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Craig Marduk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Ramirez! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marduk defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ramirez. Marduk tries to clinch up but Ramirez circles away and keeps his distance. Ramirez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Marduk moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ramirez dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Richard Ramirez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Marduk wants to clinch up but Ramirez keeps it at a distance. Ramirez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Marduk pinned against the cage. Marduk gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Marduk gets in close and instigates a clinch. Ramirez jumps guard.
Ramirez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ramirez is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Marduk content to stall in guard here. Ramirez trying to control the position here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ramirez keeping full guard, as Marduk tries to pass. Marduk stays in close to Ramirez's body and controls the position. Ramirez trying to keep a closed guard but Marduk is proving a slippery customer.
Ramirez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Marduk gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Ramirez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Marduk defends well. Marduk makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marduk sitting in guard here, content to control. Marduk wants to control from the top but Ramirez keeps moving. Ramirez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Marduk gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Ramirez looks gassed! Ramirez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Marduk looking to pass the guard. Marduk has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Ramirez tries to land a sweep but no joy. Ramirez is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Ramirez looking to control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Marduk steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ramirez. Marduk tries a low kick but Ramirez avoids it. Ramirez dips to his left and cracks Marduk with an uppercut! Marduk takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Marduk avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Marduk moves into range and connects with a jab.
It looks like Richard Ramirez has been cut. Marduk wants to clinch. Marduk is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ramirez's half guard. Marduk tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Ramirez.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marduk works his way into full mount! Ramirez is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Ramirez wants to hold on but Marduk pushes him away. Ramirez can't escape the position.
Marduk sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Marduk cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Ramirez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Marduk did well to prevent Ramirez getting side control. Ramirez is looking to advance position but Marduk won't allow it. Marduk knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ramirez on the ground. Ramirez seems to be looking for submissions.
Marduk is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Ramirez is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Marduk looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Ramirez is breathing heavily. Marduk is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ramirez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ramirez's back!
That's one minute gone in the round. Ramirez trying to control the hands but Marduk breaks the grip. Marduk is trying to stick to Ramirez's back but Ramirez is turning into Marduk. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Marduk's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Ramirez. Marduk is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Marduk tries to stand and escape but Ramirez is controlling the position. Ramirez is refusing to be controlled, as Marduk sits in half guard. Marduk is really struggling to control Ramirez but he's trying to hold on to the position. Ramirez looking for submissions off his back. Ramirez is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Nice strikes from Marduk there. Marduk prevents Ramirez from improving his position.

Marduk tries to close the distance and clinch but Ramirez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Ramirez connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Marduk momentarily.
Ramirez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Marduk counters with a lovely shot to the body. Marduk tries to clinch but Ramirez is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ramirez gets caught flat footed, as Marduk shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Marduk passes Ramirez's left leg - he's now in half guard. Marduk is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Ramirez is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Marduk pulls his head out easily. Ramirez is looking to control Marduk's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ramirez avoid being mounted? Ramirez is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Marduk pulls his head out easily. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Marduk scores with a takedown into Ramirez's guard. Ramirez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Marduk can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Marduk stopping the sweep attempt from Ramirez. Ramirez working for submissions but it's allowed Marduk to get to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Marduk is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ramirez is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Marduk stands and steps away. Ramirez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Marduk lands with an overhand left. Ramirez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Marduk moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ramirez gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Marduk looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ramirez is fending him off so far but Marduk persists. Nope, Ramirez circles away and we're back to standing. Marduk moves out of range as Ramirez strikes. Ramirez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Marduk counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ramirez won't be happy with that. Marduk stands up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ramirez loads up on a big right hand but Marduk slips the punch. Marduk keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Marduk shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ramirez is trying to defend but Marduk finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ramirez is staying active underneath Marduk, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Ramirez regains full guard. Nicely done. Ramirez has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Marduk doesn't defend quickly enough and Ramirez has managed to lock this one up! Can Marduk escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Ramirez on a fantastic submission victory.
