This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 2 losses; Andy Ettish! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 2 losses; Sub Zero! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yuuki Gou.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Ettish tries to clinch but Zero is having none of it. Zero looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Ettish tries to close the distance and clinch but Zero swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Ettish tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Zero manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Zero changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Ettish keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Ettish moves to clinch but Zero breaks away and Zero counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Zero. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ettish working for submissions but it's allowed Zero to get to half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Zero in particular looking to stall. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. That's one minute gone in the round. Zero wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ettish keeps working. Zero tries to move to mount but Ettish blocks the move with his legs. Ettish is looking for a sweep. Ettish is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Ettish looking for submissions from an awkward position here. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ettish is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Zero pulls his head out easily. Ettish's coaches at Hammer House of Horror have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Ettish gets full guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Ettish is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Zero pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ettish is keeping the position for now. Zero is posturing up here but Ettish has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Zero tries to roll out but it's too tight and Zero has to tap!
