This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 5 losses; Hardeep Nijjar! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 4 losses; Ryobi Sansho! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Sansho shoots in for a takedown but Nijjar shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Sansho stuffs the takedown attempt from Nijjar. Nijjar gets slowly back to his feet. Sansho drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Nijjar defends it well. Nijjar defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sansho. Sansho shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nijjar pinned against the ropes. Nijjar gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Hardeep Nijjar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryobi Sansho. Sansho closes the distance and pushes Nijjar back into the ropes. Nijjar jumps guard but Sansho turns him against the ropes and keeps the fight standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nijjar can't get the takedown.

Sansho is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Nijjar gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Sansho has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Nijjar avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Nijjar on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Nijjar tries to get out of the position. Nijjar keeping moving, preventing Sansho from controlling successfully. Sansho trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Sansho has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Rough House. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Sansho is still trying to improve position. Sansho passes Nijjar's left leg - he's now in half guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Sansho is trying to control. Nijjar wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Sansho wants to pass the guard but Nijjar is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sansho is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nijjar is just riding it out for now. Sansho eventually gives up the hold. Nijjar is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Sansho tries to pass the half guard into mount. Nijjar knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Sansho moves nicely into side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Nijjar (0) vs (3) Sansho
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sansho is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Nijjar has escaped the position, nice work there. Sansho looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Sansho is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nijjar knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Sansho wants to control but Nijjar is keeping him busy. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sansho tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Sansho works to advance to full mount. Nijjar defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Score +2 for reaching mount: Nijjar (0) vs (5) Sansho Sansho is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Nijjar to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Nijjar shrugs it off. Sansho moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Nijjar has worked his arm free - good work by Nijjar!
Sansho has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Nijjar is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Sansho yanks on the arm and Nijjar is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Sansho.
