This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 1 losses; Tommy Gavin! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 14 wins and 16 losses; Toyotomi Ieyasu! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Ren Mimura.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Gavin closes the distance and pushes Ieyasu back into the ropes. Ieyasu is trying to pull guard but Gavin turns him against the ropes and we stay in the clinch. Gavin gets control of Ieyasu's arms and successfully pulls guard. Gavin will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Ieyasu wants to control from the top but Gavin keeps moving. Gavin is looking for a triangle but Ieyasu pushes his legs off easily.
Gavin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ieyasu gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Ieyasu trying to control but Gavin is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ieyasu drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ieyasu jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Ieyasu slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Ieyasu looking to pass the guard.

Ieyasu looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Ieyasu wants to control from the top but Gavin keeps moving. Ieyasu works a leg free and moves into half guard. Ieyasu uses his free foot to push down on Gavin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gavin. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Gavin manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Gavin tries to lock up and control but Ieyasu gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Ieyasu prevents Gavin from getting the reversal.
