The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Fiachna moves in looking to clinch but Schaubi pushes him off. Fiachna fails with the takedown. Fiachna closes the distance and clinches up with Schaubi, looking for a takedown. Fiachna pushes Schaubi against the ropes but Schaubi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Schaubi tries to counter by closing the distance. Schaubi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Schaubi wants it to stay on the feet. Schaubi is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darragh Fiachna. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fiachna wants to clinch. Fiachna darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. That's one minute gone in the round. Fiachna is trying to control. Schaubi wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Schaubi has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Schaubi wants to get back to full guard. Still in half guard, Fiachna seems content to control. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Fiachna is thwarting Schaubi's attempts to control the position. He's hooked one of Fiachna's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Fiachna's back! Fiachna wants to control his opponent's hands but Schaubi gets his hands free. Schaubi is riding his opponent, not letting Fiachna buck him off. I really don't envy Fiachna right now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schaubi is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Fiachna manages to reverse the position and now he's in Schaubi's guard. Nice work there by Fiachna.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fiachna can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Schaubi is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Fiachna sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Schaubi doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Fiachna paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use!
