This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Yahir Velez! And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 0 losses; Joey Castillo! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and Phil Schofield.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Velez gets a takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Velez (2) vs (0) Castillo Castillo is looking for a sweep. Velez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Castillo works his way to full guard. Good work. Velez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Castillo is keeping the position for now. Velez passes Castillo's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Velez controlling the action here. Velez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Castillo defends it well. Velez wants to pass the guard but Castillo is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Castillo makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Castillo. Velez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Castillo keeping full guard, as Velez tries to pass.
Castillo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Velez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Castillo can't keep his opponent in guard - Velez advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Castillo tries to hold on but Velez pushes him away. Castillo can't escape the position.

Velez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Castillo for as long as he can get away with.

Castillo tries to reverse the position but Velez maintains control. Velez wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Velez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Castillo is desperately trying to improve his position but Velez has a good base and remains in mount. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Velez is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Castillo is in real trouble.

Velez has got one arm under Castillo's chin. This could be trouble... Castillo trying to control the other hand but Velez gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Castillo has tapped out! The fight is over!
