Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Louis Gabriel Suchet (ranked 2052 p4p, 3431 weight class) and Matthew Griffin (ranked 248 p4p, 386 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Louis Gabriel Suchet! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matthew Griffin! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Eddie Farnsworth and John Roberts.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Griffin lands a jab to Suchet's midsection. Suchet takes one to the chin there. Griffin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Griffin scores with a punch to the head. Suchet looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Matthew Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Griffin thuds his right hand into Suchet's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Suchet on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Suchet with a poor takedown and Griffin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Griffin moves into range and connects with a jab. Griffin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Griffin's coach down at Gumburcules Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Griffin's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A decent looking cross lands there for Griffin. Suchet takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Griffin turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Suchet takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Suchet seems to be working for a kimura but Griffin defends the submission attempt. Suchet seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Griffin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Griffin trying to control here.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Suchet connects with a nice short shot to Griffin's temple. Suchet has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Griffin is trying to stand back up but Suchet is controlling him
Griffin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Suchet. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Suchet works his way into side control. Suchet scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Griffin to see if he's OK.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Griffin is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Suchet asserts his dominance and retains side control. Suchet trying to control the position but Griffin is working away. Suchet lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Griffin is trying to buck Suchet off. Suchet lands a decent elbow from side control. Suchet is working Griffin over with some ground and pound from side control. Griffin on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Suchet lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Griffin down.
Griffin wants to get back to his feet. Suchet is looking to take a break and control but Griffin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Griffin is looking for a sweep. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Griffin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Griffin manages to work his way to half guard, despite Suchet's best efforts. Suchet performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Suchet lands strikes from half guard.
