This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 51 wins and 37 losses; Ze Jiurgite! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 56 wins and 55 losses; Esteban Mondragon! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Daniel Bishop and Donald Grub.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Mondragon is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jiurgite's half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Mondragon has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at HELLCADEMY. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mondragon is looking to advance position but Jiurgite won't allow it. Well, if Mondragon is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's one minute gone in the round. It looks like Mondragon might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Jiurgite manages to get to full guard.
Jiurgite wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mondragon controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Jiurgite trying to keep a closed guard but Mondragon is proving a slippery customer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Jiurgite holds on and takes a little breather. Jiurgite keeping full guard, as Mondragon tries to pass. Mondragon controlling from the top position. Mondragon is fighting to break Jiurgite's control of his arms but Jiurgite is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jiurgite looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mondragon is one step ahead there. Mondragon controls from within his opponent's guard. Mondragon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Mondragon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Jiurgite seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Mondragon is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Jiurgite has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Let's hope that Mondragon has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Jiurgite trying to control the position here.

The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Jiurgite has control of Mondragon's left arm, preventing Mondragon from doing any damage. Mondragon seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Jiurgite reaches up to try and control the position but Mondragon seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Jiurgite rolls and tries to escape and now Mondragon has his back!
