Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? GC displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hartman. GC appears to be looking for a counter takedown. GC looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. GC shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. GC is looking to advance position but Hartman won't allow it. Hartman felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Hartman is looking to take a break and control but GC is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The referee asks Hartman politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hartman prefers to stall for the moment though. GC tries to get back to half guard but can't. Hartman is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if GC gets his way!

GC drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hartman manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now GC has Hartman in his guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: GC (6) vs (7) Hartman GC keeping moving, preventing Hartman from controlling successfully. Hartman passes GC's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. GC is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Hartman frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: GC (6) vs (10) Hartman GC is looking to get to half guard. GC is trying to reverse the position but instead Hartman has taken his back - oops! Score +3 for taking back: GC (6) vs (13) Hartman GC is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Hartman has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of GC's body.
GC is trying to break free.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. GC is trying to roll into a better position but Hartman has get a rear naked choke and GC is forced to tap out! This one is allllll over!
