Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Zachery Malone (ranked 3971 p4p, 4114 weight class) and John Rivera (ranked 208 p4p, 214 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Zachery Malone! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Rivera! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Malone throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rivera was covering up waiting for the punch and Malone finishes the takedown easily into guard. Rivera striking off his back but it's not causing Malone any problems. Malone has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Malone trying to control the position from guard on top but Rivera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Malone slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rivera has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Malone can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Rivera has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Rivera looking to sweep here. No luck so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rivera is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Malone content to stall in guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rivera is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Malone is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Rivera managing to control the position. Malone wants to control from the top but Rivera keeps moving. Malone slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Rivera tries to clinch but Malone moves out of range. Malone feints and as Rivera raises his hands in defense, Malone changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Rivera keeping moving, preventing Malone from controlling successfully. Malone preventing the sweep. Rivera is trying to control the position but Malone postures up. Malone seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Rivera looking for a sweep. Not yet Rivera, not yet. Rivera can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Malone controls the pace. Malone trying to control but Rivera is working from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Malone looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Rivera has a takedown stuffed. Malone shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Malone trying to control the position from guard on top but Rivera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Malone content to stall in guard here. Rivera bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Malone's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Malone holds on and takes a little breather. Malone looking for a sweep. Not yet Malone, not yet. Malone knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rivera on the ground. Malone has momentary wrist control but Rivera slips an elbow through the middle. Rivera is fighting to break Malone's control of his arms but Malone is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Rivera content to stall in guard here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rivera connects with a couple of short punches. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Zachery Malone dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Malone wants to control from the top but Rivera keeps moving. Malone not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Zachery Malone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Malone lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Malone. Rivera shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Malone sprawls well. Malone wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rivera gets slowly back to his feet. Malone tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rivera defends well and Malone ends up having to push Rivera into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Malone is trying to force a seperation but Rivera has the dominant position. Rivera dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Malone manages to break the clinch.
Malone shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Malone was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Rivera is not content to let Malone control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rivera wants to get back to his feet but Malone drags him back down. Rivera is trying to improve his position. Rivera sneaks back into half guard. Rivera looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Rivera tries to roll over but Malone keeps him under control. Malone really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Rivera looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Rivera is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Malone is trying to control. Rivera wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Malone wants to pass the guard but Rivera is defending well. Malone stalling. Malone stands up out of the half guard. Malone is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rivera can do to turn this around? Excellent takedown into side control there by Malone.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rivera is not content to let Malone control the position. Rivera is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Malone is controlling him well. Zachery Malone overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rivera is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Malone trying to control the action but Rivera is working from the bottom. Rivera tries to roll over but Malone keeps him under control. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Malone controlling the action here. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Zachery Malone dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Malone closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Malone trying to control from half guard but Rivera is working away. Rivera avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Malone. Rivera holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Rivera tries to roll over but Malone keeps him under control. Rivera moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Malone is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Malone looking to sit in guard and control but Rivera gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rivera throwing strikes from guard but Malone blocks nicely. Malone looking for a sweep. Not yet Malone, not yet. Malone wants to control but Rivera passes easily into half guard.
Malone is looking to control Rivera's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Malone avoid being mounted? Malone tries to get to full guard but Rivera has control of the leg. Malone wants to control but Rivera is keeping busy.
Malone wants to improve his position but Rivera is controlling well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rivera is controlling the pace.
Rivera missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Rivera takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Rivera thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Malone's head. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Malone trying to control but Rivera postures up.

Malone tries to sprawl but Rivera drives through with a takedown into half guard. Rivera missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Rivera looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Malone wants to improve his position but Rivera is controlling well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Rivera seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Malone controlling the position well. Rivera is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Malone wants to control but Rivera is keeping busy.
