Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Genghis Khan (ranked 1924 p4p, 5141 weight class) and Rio Rolla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 21 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Genghis Khan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rio Rolla! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Daniel Blasius.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rolla shoots in for a takedown but Khan shows good takedown defense. Rolla doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Rolla on the wrong end of a nice hook. Rio Rolla seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Khan lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Rolla shoots and misses and Khan counters with a nice body shot. Nice straight punches there by Khan. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Khan.
 It looks like Rio Rolla has been cut. Khan throws a leg kick that misses. Khan ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Khan works over Rolla's head and body with a nice combination. Rolla with a lazy takedown attempt and Khan counters with an outside leg kick.
Genghis Khan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rio Rolla. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rolla takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Khan tests Rolla's chin there with a solid looking shot. Khan slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Khan has been working on his boxing with his coaches at UnderDawg Fight Club in the buildup to the fight. Khan scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rolla doesn't seem bothered though. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rolla is defended easily by Khan. Khan throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Khan lands with an uppercut that bounces Rolla off the cage and back into range. Khan with a nice calf kick. Khan connects with a good right hand that stumbles Rolla. Rolla circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Rolla shoots and misses and Khan counters with a series of strikes. Rolla will be more careful next time no doubt. Rolla gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Khan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
 That has opened up Rio Rolla's cut even more. Khan is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Khan finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Khan wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Khan lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Khan gets caught flat footed, as Rolla shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Rolla looks winded! Rolla looking to pass the guard. My spies in LĂ©Crucible inform me that Rolla has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Khan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Khan keeping full guard, as Rolla tries to pass. Rolla controlling from the top position. Khan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rolla is one step ahead there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rolla thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Rolla passes Khan's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Rolla looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Khan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rolla on the ground. Rolla has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Rolla pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Khan is wriggling around trying to escape.

Rolla is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Khan has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Rolla has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Khan taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Rolla doesn't care though - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Rio Rolla!
