Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shaun Dico (ranked 3456 p4p, 3407 weight class) and Lucas Silva (ranked 394 p4p, 391 weight class). Dico's entrance music is Dax - Venom (Eminem Remix ONE TAKE). A fine choice. Lucas Silva is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shaun Dico! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Silva! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva fails with a takedown attempt. Dico throws a leg kick and Silva counters with a takedown into side control. Dico pushes Silva away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Silva gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Silva controls the position. Silva works to advance to full mount. Dico defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Silva fails to take his opponent's back. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dico tries to hold on but Silva postures up. Dico tries to get back to half guard but can't. Silva goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Dico turns into him and now he's in Silva's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva keeping moving, preventing Dico from controlling successfully. Silva has control of Dico's left arm, preventing Dico from doing any damage. Dico wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving. Silva seems keen to control Dico's posture.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Dico trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Dico wanted to stand there but Silva had control of the position. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dico's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Dico trying to control but Silva is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silva has his foot on Dico's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dico works his way back into a safe position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva pulls Dico in close to prevent any damage. Dico working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Silva has Dico pulled in close to control his posture. Dico postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Silva manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dico manages to get himself to full guard.
Dico keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully. Silva is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Dico working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Silva is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Dico throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dico swivels though and keeps the full guard. Silva is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Silva slips nicely into half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Silva is looking for a kimura but Dico is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Silva to get the leverage. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Lucas Silva dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Silva gets in close and instigates a clinch. Silva has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Dico wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Silva manages to break the clinch.
Dico lands with a straight right. Silva didn't see that one coming. Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Dico circles away.
Silva rushes Dico and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Dico misses with a short punch on the inside. Silva stalling the fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva can't get the takedown.
Dico wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Silva has him pressed against the cage. Dico is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Silva is keeping busy. Dico lands a body punch in the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dico is trying to break free. Silva avoiding damage.

Silva jumps guard but Dico stands there with Silva around his waist. Silva gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Dico. Silva stalling against the cage.

Shaun Dico has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucas Silva. Silva jumps guard but Dico turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Dico is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Silva breaks the clinch.

It looks like Lucas Silva has been cut. Dico looks to land a combination but Silva avoids it well. Dico misses the shot to the body. Silva drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Dico escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Silva controls from within his opponent's guard. Silva trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Silva postures up.
Dico working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Dico throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Dico looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Silva is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dico doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Silva. Dico trying to control but Silva postures up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Dico looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Silva wants to free his trapped foot but Dico is holding on for dear life with his legs. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Lucas Silva will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Lucas Silva's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round! Dico dips to his left and cracks Silva with an uppercut! Silva shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dico pinned against the cage. Dico gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Dico digs a good body shot into Silva's ribs. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva gets in close and instigates a clinch. Silva breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Lucas Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fight moves into the clinch position. Silva stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dico swivels though and keeps the full guard. Silva pushing down on Dico's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Silva is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Silva fails to move to back control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva has control of Dico's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Dico regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Silva is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Dico to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Dico shrugs it off. Dico has given up his back. Will we see Silva going for some submissions?

Dico tries to escape but Silva has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Shaun Dico has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Lucas Silva is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A bit of a pause in the action here. Silva controlling the positon. Silva keeps control of the position as Dico tries to break free.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Dico is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Well, with Silva on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Dico is tapping out... Can he escape the position? You can see the frustration on Dico's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Silva controlling the position well here. Dico rolled but Silva kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Let's hope that Silva has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
