The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Francis looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Francis content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Francis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jones with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Jones wants to get back to his feet.
Francis perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Francis is trying to control the action in half guard but Jones is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Jones has hold of Francis's hands but Francis slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Francis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jones sprawls well. Jones wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Francis gets slowly back to his feet.

Francis shoots for a double leg takedown but Jones sprawls well. He's pushed Francis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jones ducks under a wild hook from Francis.

Jones escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Francis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Francis stands up over Jones, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Francis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Francis persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Jones tries to kick Francis off but Francis keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Francis is controlling the pace.
Francis lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Francis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
