PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hector Moreno (ranked 4947 p4p, 4992 weight class) and Jefke Daems (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daems has chosen jefke is getrouwd as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hector Moreno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jefke Daems!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moreno misses with the body kick
and Daems counters with a nice uppercut.

It looks like Hector Moreno has been cut.
Moreno looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Daems stuffs the takedown.
Hector Moreno seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moreno throws a jab but it's blocked by Daems.
Moreno looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Daems tries to score a power double leg takedown but Moreno sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Daems somewhat.
Moreno wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Moreno tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A nice inside leg kick there by Daems. That's going to slow Moreno down.
Moreno ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Daems moves away.
Daems throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Daems has his takedown stuffed
letting Moreno counter with a right hand.

Daems forces Moreno back against the cage and clinches.
Daems has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Moreno is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Daems decides to pull guard.

Moreno throwing strikes from guard but Daems blocks nicely.

Daems trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Daems stands and steps away. Moreno gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Daems tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Moreno defends well and Daems ends up having to push Moreno into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Daems looks to land a combination. Moreno sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Daems instigates a clinch.

Daems manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Daems pulls Moreno in to control the position.
Moreno would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Moreno has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Daems looking for a sweep. Not yet Daems, not yet.
Daems seems keen to control Moreno's posture.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Daems pushes Moreno off and scrambles back to his feet.

Daems darts in and clinches Moreno up against the cage.
Daems keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Moreno's efforts to push away.

Daems jumps guard and drags Moreno to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Daems throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Daems wriggles free and stands up.
Daems shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Moreno sprawls well. Moreno wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Daems gets slowly back to his feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Daems is defended easily by Moreno.

Daems closes the distance and pushes Moreno back into the cage.
Daems goes for a takedown attempt but Moreno pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Daems punishes Moreno's body with a nice straight punch.
Moreno shoots for a double leg takedown but Daems sprawls well. He's pushed Moreno's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Daems moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Daems tries to score a power double leg takedown but Moreno sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Daems somewhat.

Daems goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jefke Daems seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Daems throws a good cross that connects.

Daems has managed to clinch.
Daems landing knees to the body.

Daems breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Moreno gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Daems has taken the fight to the clinch.
Daems has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Moreno is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Daems's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Moreno has closed the distance and engaged Daems in a clinch.

Moreno cracks Daems with a solid left hand.

Daems escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Moreno gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Daems wants to sweep but no luck.

Moreno decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Moreno leaves Daems with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hector Moreno is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Daems.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jefke Daems showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Moreno fails to land the takedown.
Daems shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Moreno but Moreno pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Moreno takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Moreno drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Daems dives on top into guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Daems is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Moreno gets underhooks to prevent Daems's takedown attempt.
Moreno tries to pull guard but Daems holds him up against the cage and eventually Moreno drops back down to his feet.

Daems ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Daems no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Daems is pulling down on Moreno's head to control his posture.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Daems lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


And that's the end of the fight!
Jefke Daems comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Daems has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
