Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Olson (ranked 2779 p4p, 3258 weight class) and Phoenix Alexander (ranked 317 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jay Olson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phoenix Alexander!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Darius Henderson and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alexander throws a nice looking combination but Olson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A little feinted left hand from Olson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Alexander scores with a head kick. Olson tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Nice shot lands for Alexander.
Alexander cracks Olson with a good jab.
The fight stays on the outside here - Alexander looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Olson was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Nice uppercut lands for Alexander. That snapped Olson's head back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've been informed that Alexander has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Olson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

It looked like Olson was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Alexander.

Olson is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Alexander is keeping busy.

Olson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Alexander regains guard immediately.

Alexander decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Phoenix Alexander showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
