This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 2 losses; Massiel Tomás! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Sosuke Kotani.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Borges feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Possibly, maybe, no Borges has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Borges jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Tomás manages to avoid the submission attempt. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Tomás turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Borges off and cradles Tomás's limp body as Borges celebrates with his corner.
