Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trayvon Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roydell Gibbons!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibbons waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lewis.
Gibbons connects with a single shot there.
Gibbons's coach down at Temple of Fitness was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Gibbons's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Lewis swings widly with a right hand
and Gibbons counters with a stiff right hand.

Lewis feints and as Gibbons raises his hands in defense, Lewis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lewis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Gibbons is looking for a triangle but Lewis pushes his legs off easily.
Lewis content to stall in guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gibbons is pulling down on Lewis's head to control his posture.

Gibbons is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Gibbons looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Lewis passes into side control.

Gibbons is trying to escape the position but Lewis is controlling the position.
Lewis is looking to take a break and control but Gibbons is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lewis lands a nice forearm strike.

We've been hearing that Lewis has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
You can see the frustration on Gibbons's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Lewis slips a nice elbow through Gibbons's hands, connecting with Gibbons's forehead.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Lewis frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Gibbons tries to hold on but Lewis postures up.
Lewis controlling the pace for now.
Gibbons wants to control but Lewis is having none of it.

Gibbons is squirming around, avoiding Lewis's attempts to control the action.
Lewis lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Gibbons wants to control but Lewis is having none of it.

Gibbons defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Lewis.
Gibbons tries to hold on but Lewis postures up.
Gibbons is wriggling around trying to escape.
Lewis avoids the attempt from Gibbons to control.

Gibbons is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Lewis is staying active.
Lewis with the ground and pound from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gibbons squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gibbons is in a horrible position here. Lewis smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Gibbons tries to lock up and control but Lewis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gibbons has given up his back.

Lewis lands strikes to the head.

Lewis throwing damaging strikes from the back! Gibbons could be in trouble here!

Gibbons is covering up but some of the strikes from Lewis are getting through and doing damage.
Gibbons trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Lewis scores with punches from the back.
Lewis controlling well, preventing Gibbons from escaping the position.

Lewis is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Lewis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
What can Gibbons do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Lewis wants to control but Gibbons is keeping busy.
Lewis really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Gibbons.

Gibbons trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Lewis working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Gibbons is doing well to defend. Lewis seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Gibbons is forced to tap and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 9:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Trayvon Lewis!
Trayvon Lewis decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
