STRIKE! 44 PBP Commentary |
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Ali'i misses with a right hand and Ahai counters with a lovely straight right hand! Ali'i connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Ahai momentarily.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Ahai throws a head kick that Ali'i semi-blocks.
Ahai on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ahai misses with an uppercut
and Ali'i counters with a two punch combo. Ali'i misses with a hook. Ahai ducked under it nicely. Kekoa Ali'i seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ali'i throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Ali'i throws a looping overhand right but Ahai ducks down to avoid it. A little feinted left hand from Ahai on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Ali'i throws an off balance right hand
and Ahai counters with a straight right hand. The fighters circling - Ali'i throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Ahai scores with a hook. Ahai looks to land a right hand but Ali'i moved out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ali'i slips under a jab. Ali'i looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Ali'i misses with an uppercut
and Ahai connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Ahai looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Ali'i catches Ahai napping and connects with a fantastic 3 punch combination that sends Ahai crashing to the mat! He's still conscious but he's all over the place - can he beat the count?!? 4,5,6,7,8...9...10! He didn't make it back to his feet! Ali'i raises both arms skywards and takes in the roar from the crowd!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Kekoa Ali'i! Kekoa Ali'i tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool. |
