1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sammy Stout! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stout will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Stout closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Stout lands in his opponent's guard. Stout being controlled here momentarily. Stout showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Murphy trying to keep a closed guard but Stout is proving a slippery customer.
Murphy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Murphy has a closed guard, preventing Stout from standing up. Stout trying to control but Murphy is working from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Stout looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Stout is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Stout shoots in and bounces Murphy off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Sammy Stout seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Stout tries for a takedown but Murphy circles away easily and Murphy counters with a takedown into side control. Stout tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Murphy wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Stout is trying to escape the position but Murphy is controlling the position. Stout is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Stout stops Murphy from passing to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Murphy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stout keeps working. Stout is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Stout wants to control but Murphy postures up. Murphy taking a break here but Stout is having none of it and regains half guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Stout tries to close the distance and clinch up but Murphy swats him away and circles back towards the center. Murphy swats away the attempt to clinch by Stout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Stout tries to land a body kick and Murphy counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Murphy. Stout is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Stout had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Murphy is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Stout Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Murphy's back instead. Stout struggling to keep hold of the position.
Murphy tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Murphy tries to hold on but Stout postures up. Stout lands a nice shot to the head. Stout controlling the position easily from mount. Murphy is looking to get to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stout drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stout tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stout has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Murphy can't do much from the bottom here. Murphy tries to buck Stout off but Stout is having none of it. Murphy can't do much from the bottom here. Stout has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Stout throws a right and a left that both miss.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Stout lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Stout connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Stout with the ground and pound from mount. Stout lands a big shot there that rocks Murphy but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Murphy tries to hold on but Stout pushes him away. Murphy is looking to get to half guard. Murphy is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Murphy is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Sammy Stout comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Stout has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
