Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phoenix Peterson (ranked 2311 p4p, 3161 weight class) and Rufus Dugout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson comes to the cage accompanied by Bulls On Parade- Rage Against the Machine. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rufus Dugout!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson moves away from the strike by Dugout.
Peterson lands a two punch combo.
Dugout misses with a series of wild punches.
Peterson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Dugout.
Peterson lands an overhand right.
Dugout misses with a wild body shot.
Dugout throws a right and a left that Peterson avoids nicely.
Peterson lands a high kick!
Peterson misses the jab.
Dugout throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Dugout steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Peterson.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dugout takes one to the chin there.

Peterson moves into the clinch successfully.
Peterson lands an elbow inside that Dugout shrugs off.
Dugout is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Dugout is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Dugout trying to control the position but instead, Peterson has worked for underhooks and has pushed Dugout into the cage.
Dugout is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Peterson lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Peterson lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Dugout backwards.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

It looks like Rufus Dugout has been cut.
Peterson lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Dugout on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Peterson lands a nice elbow.

Dugout looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Peterson digs a right hand underneath Dugout's ribcage. Dugout let out a lung full of air as it connected.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Peterson pushes Dugout back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Peterson lands an elbow that stopped Dugout in his tracks for a moment.
Dugout swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Dugout stalling in the clinch but Peterson improves position.
Dugout looking to stall.
Peterson lands a knee to the head.

Dugout is rocked!
Peterson lands with a light punch inside.
Dugout is still on wobbly legs! Can Peterson finish him?
Peterson lands a right hand that snaps the head of Dugout backwards.
Peterson makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Peterson takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Peterson gets through Dugout's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Peterson lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Dugout seems to have recovered his senses.
Peterson unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Dugout looks winded!

Peterson pushes Dugout back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Peterson looking to throw knees to the head but Dugout is blocking nicely.
Dugout on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Peterson lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Peterson lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Peterson softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Dugout fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Peterson using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Dugout has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Peterson throws a knee to the head but misses.

A left hand lands to the body for Peterson.
Peterson has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Dugout - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Peterson, and another! Dugout is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Phoenix Peterson!
In his post fight interview, Phoenix Peterson started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
