PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Toledo (ranked 4160 p4p, 4155 weight class) and Buzz Chase (ranked 433 p4p, 431 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gabriel Toledo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Buzz Chase! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chase cracks Toledo with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Chase moves into range and clinches up with Toledo. Chase misses with a punch on the inside.
Chase breaks from the clinch.
Chase looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Toledo! Chase slows the pace down. Chase working away. Toledo gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Toledo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Chase looking to control but Toledo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Toledo can't escape the position.
Chase scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Toledo?
That's one minute gone in the round. Toledo throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Chase has hold of Toledo's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Toledo manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The referee warns Toledo that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
It looks like Gabriel Toledo has been cut. Toledo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chase on the ground. Chase breaks from Toledo's wrist control and lands an elbow. Toledo is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Chase locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Toledo is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Buzz Chase! Buzz Chase seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
