Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chael Shonen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Asskren!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Asskren closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Shonen did well to prevent Asskren getting side control.
Asskren is trying to control the action in half guard but Shonen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Asskren not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Shonen looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Shonen tries to roll over but Asskren keeps him under control.
Asskren controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Asskren's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Asskren trying to control from half guard but Shonen is working away.
Shonen gets full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Shonen is looking to sweep but instead, Asskren has passed into half guard.
Asskren looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shonen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shonen moves into full guard.
Asskren got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shonen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Asskren has managed to get both his arms back between Shonen's legs - danger averted.
Asskren controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Shonen wants to control but Asskren passes easily into half guard.
Asskren decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Asskren bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Shonen gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Asskren takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Shonen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Shonen is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Asskren is tapping! Great win for Shonen!
