Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Palo Meta (ranked 1602 p4p, 1219 weight class) and Karson Caldwell (ranked 184 p4p, 148 weight class). Meta's entrance music is Welcome To Jamrock - Damian Marley. A fine choice. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Palo Meta!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Karson Caldwell!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caldwell lands a jab to the nose.
Caldwell waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Meta.
Meta dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Meta cracks Caldwell with a right hand to the side of the head.
Caldwell throws an overhand right that lands on Meta's shoulder, as Meta tries to avoid the shot.
Meta connects with a looping right hand.
Meta doesn't manage to clinch there - Caldwell circles away.
Meta fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Caldwell looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Palo Meta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Meta counters with a crisp one two that drops Caldwell! Meta thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Caldwell to his feet! Caldwell is in big trouble!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Caldwell rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Meta counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Caldwell looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Meta cracks Caldwell with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Meta has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Caldwell to stand back up!
Caldwell is rocked!
Meta tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Caldwell was well out of range. Poor timing from Meta.
Caldwell is still on wobbly legs! Can Meta finish him?
Meta takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Caldwell seems to have recovered his senses.
Caldwell uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Meta.
Meta misses with a body shot.
Meta jabs Caldwell right on the nose. Caldwell blinks but takes it well.
Caldwell lands a body shot.
Caldwell keeps the fight on the outside.
Meta tests Caldwell's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Caldwell lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Meta takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Caldwell's corner calls for a 1-2. Caldwell obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

and Caldwell makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Meta scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Caldwell doesn't seem bothered though.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Palo Meta dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.
