Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, brook Ortiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marco Ruas! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Seu Braga and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortiz works over Ruas's head and body with a nice combination. Ruas walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Ortiz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ruas swats him away and circles back towards the center. A nice combination there by Ortiz.
Ortiz scores with a nice strike. Ruas leaves Ortiz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. brook Ortiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ortiz fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ortiz swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ortiz looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Ruas! Ortiz lands a big shot there that rocks Ruas but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ortiz is going olschool here, as he tries to force Ruas to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ruas shrugs it off. Ruas is wriggling around trying to escape.
Ruas slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Ruas gets full guard. Ruas pushes a forearm under Ortiz's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Ortiz is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
