The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Barnett shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Standish manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Standish bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Standish has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Barnett pulls Standish in close to prevent any damage. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Standish takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Barnett slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! As we have tied on points, we go to a tie breaker and Barnett gets a bonus point for attempting more subs. Barnett wins on points by 15 to 14. After winning the bout, Quinn Barnett thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. |
