Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Curtis Calderon (ranked 24089 p4p, 3803 weight class) and Khamzat Chimaev (ranked 506 p4p, 382 weight class). Khamzat Chimaev is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Curtis Calderon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Khamzat Chimaev! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chimaev closes the distance and clinches up with Calderon, looking for a takedown. Chimaev pushes Calderon against the cage but Calderon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. A little feinted left hand from Calderon on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Chimaev drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Calderon can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Chimaev controls the pace. Chimaev working some strikes from top position. Chimaev is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Calderon looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Chimaev has picked Calderon up and slammed him! Calderon can't keep hold of the triangle and Chimaev manages to pass to side control! Chimaev tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Chimaev lands a few punches from side control. Chimaev controls the position from side control. Chimaev wants to stand but Calderon is controlling his arm. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Calderon tries to get back to half guard but can't. Calderon seems a little lost for a moment, as Chimaev dominates the positioning. Chimaev in side control lands a decent elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Calderon is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Ground and pound from Chimaev. Calderon looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Chimaev tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Calderon. Chimaev has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Chimaev perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Calderon looking for submissions off his back. Chimaev working Calderon over with strikes. Chimaev content to control rather than advance. Chimaev tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Calderon. Still in half guard, Chimaev seems content to control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chimaev is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chimaev wants to stand up but Calderon is controlling the position.
Chimaev passes to side control. Chimaev tries to stand but Calderon is controlling his head. Chimaev has hold of Calderon's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Calderon tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Chimaev cranks the arm and Calderon screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Calderon, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Khamzat Chimaev! As Khamzat Chimaev got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: Alhamdulillah'.
