Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sherman Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and kevin hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sherman Paul! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, kevin hughes! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Franklyn Lucas and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! hughes avoids a punch combination nicely.
Paul gets caught flat footed, as hughes shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. hughes avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Paul on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Paul tries to get out of the position. Paul is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Paul is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst hughes is controlling him. hughes controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Paul has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but hughes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. hughes controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paul looking for subs off his back but hughes has passed one foot through into half guard.

Paul is breathing heavily. Paul moves into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. hughes makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. hughes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. hughes stops Paul from standing up. hughes advances to half guard. hughes wants to free his trapped foot but Paul is holding on for dear life with his legs. hughes content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. hughes's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Despite being in the dominant position, kevin hughes just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. hughes tries to clinch but Paul moves out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Paul has a takedown stuffed. hughes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. hughes can't get the takedown.
hughes fails to pull guard.
hughes turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! hughes takes a little break here. Paul wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. hughes works to advance to full mount. Paul defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. hughes tries to control but Paul wriggling away. hughes controlling his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
kevin hughes dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
hughes shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Paul as he avoids it easily. hughes closes this distance looking for a takedown but Paul circles away. Paul fails with the takedown. Paul throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around hughes's waist but hughes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Paul off to one side. hughes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Paul sprawls well initially but hughes persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Paul misses with some strikes from the bottom.
hughes moves nicely into side control. Paul struggling a bit here. Paul tries to bench press hughes off him but hughes keeps the position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

You can see the frustration on Paul's face as hughes controls the position. hughes stands up. hughes doesn't succeed with the takedown and Paul counters with a takedown into side control. Sherman Paul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of kevin hughes. hughes is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Paul's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Paul seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but hughes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Paul is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, hughes has managed to free his arm - good work. hughes moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. hughes is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Paul postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. hughes controlling Paul's posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. hughes looking for a sweep. Not yet hughes, not yet. hughes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
hughes seems keen to control Paul's posture. Paul trying to control the position from guard on top but hughes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. hughes misses with a takedown and Paul counters with a nice double leg into guard. hughes pulls Paul in close to prevent any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Paul trying to control but hughes is working from the bottom. hughes tries to land a sweep but no joy. hughes pulls Paul in close to his closed guard and prevents Paul from doing any damage or advancing position. hughes is trying to keep Paul in close.
Paul wants to pass the guard but hughes is keeping the position. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as hughes holds on and takes a little breather. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Sherman Paul will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

hughes works over Paul with some ground and pound from guard. hughes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Paul swivels though and keeps the full guard. hughes preventing the sweep. hughes is stalling in the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. hughes won't allow Paul to sweep him here. hughes not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Paul pulls hughes in close to his closed guard and prevents hughes from doing any damage or advancing position.
