Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eliss Grov (ranked 4015 p4p, 1967 weight class) and Lieutenant Data (ranked 327 p4p, 181 weight class). Data comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Slipknot - Don't Get Close kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eliss Grov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lieutenant Data! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Data jabs Grov to the body, keeping him at a distance. Grov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. No joy there for Grov, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Grov slips a jab and a cross from Data.
Grov drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Data has control of Grov's left arm, preventing Grov from doing any damage. Grov postures up.
Data might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Grov haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Data working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Grov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Grov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Data looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Grov wants to pass the guard but Data is keeping the position. Grov wants to control from the top but Data keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Data is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Grov defends well. Grov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Data swivels though and keeps the full guard. Grov trying to control the position from guard on top but Data is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Data not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Grov catches Data with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Grov takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Eliss Grov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Data misses with an uppercut. Grov saw that one coming.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grov shoots in and bounces Data off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Data is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Grov is aware though and is defending well. Grov pushes down on Data's leg and manages to get into half guard. Data wants to get back to full guard. Grov moves nicely into side control. Data trying to remain calm as Grov controls from the top position. Grov is looking to take a break and control but Data is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Grov swings around for an armbar but Data sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Grov's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grov is trying to control the position but Data postures up. Data is looking to work some ground and pound but Grov has wrist control. Data slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Data is pulling down on Grov's head. It's preventing any offense from Grov, at least for the moment. Grov stands and throws Data's legs to the side, diving into side control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Data is trying to control Grov's posture but Grov avoids it. Grov goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Data has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Grov but great work by Data. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Eliss Grov dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Grov shoots in looking for a takedown but Data manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Grov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Eliss Grov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Data walks into a straight right hand from Grov. Data throws a low kick but Grov moves out of range easily. Grov throwing a counter right hand but Data manages to avoid it. Jab, jab by Data - just one landing. Grov slips under a jab. Grov misses with a jab, cross combination.

A swing and a miss from Data. Data moves out of range as Grov strikes. Data thumps Grov with a low kick. Data ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Grov moves away. Data throws a hook to the side of Grov's head but Grov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Grov walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Data scores with a takedown into Grov's guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Grov controls Data momentarily but Data frees himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Data seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Data avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Data trying to control but Grov is working from the bottom. Data must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Data's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Grov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Data postures up in Grov's guard and throws a big left but Grov blocks it. Data trying to control the position from guard on top but Grov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Eliss Grov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Data is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Data wants to pass the guard but Grov is keeping the position. Data is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Data working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Grov's head.

Lieutenant Data showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round! Grov ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Grov blocks a head kick by Data.

Grov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Data trying to control but Grov is working from the bottom. Grov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Data doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Data looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Data is fighting to break Grov's control of his arms but Grov is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Data stands up over Grov, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Data not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Grov has his foot on Data's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Data works his way back into a safe position though. Grov keeping moving, preventing Data from controlling successfully. Data is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Data tries to bench press Grov off him but Grov keeps the position.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Lieutenant Data. I think Data has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Lieutenant Data! Lieutenant Data decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
