Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tahboule Alawi (ranked 1729 p4p, 1027 weight class) and Arthur Pugsley (ranked 155 p4p, 94 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Alawi might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Ruler of Everything. Tahboule Alawi had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 16 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tahboule Alawi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arthur Pugsley! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pugsley is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Alawi's half guard. Pugsley is keen to just control but Alawi is a slippery customer. Pugsley prevents Alawi from improving his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alawi is holding on to half guard well. Alawi is trying to maintain the position but Pugsley is very close to passing his half guard. Pugsley tries to pass the half guard into mount. Alawi knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alawi tries to roll over but Pugsley keeps him under control.
Alawi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pugsley pulls his head out easily. Pugsley prevents Alawi from improving his position.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Pugsley throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Alawi wants to get back to full guard. Alawi moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Alawi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Alawi pulls Pugsley in to control the position. Alawi trying to keep a closed guard but Pugsley is proving a slippery customer.
Alawi looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Pugsley working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Alawi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pugsley is one step ahead there. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Pugsley postures up and lands a big shot to Alawi's brow. Alawi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Alawi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pugsley manages to get himself to full guard.

Pugsley is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Alawi trying to control but Pugsley is working from the bottom. Alawi content to stall in guard here. Pugsley is trying to control the position but Alawi postures up.

Alawi tries to move to mount but Pugsley blocks the move with his legs.

Alawi tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Pugsley is looking to regain half guard here but Alawi keeps moving and retains side control. Pugsley is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Pugsley is not content to let Alawi control the position. Pugsley rushes Alawi and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Alawi pulls guard effortlessly. Pugsley cracks Alawi with a solid left hand. Pugsley postures up.
Alawi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pugsley manages to get himself to full guard.
 Tahboule Alawi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pugsley escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alawi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Pugsley keeping moving, preventing Alawi from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pugsley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alawi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alawi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Alawi passes easily into side control. Nice work. Alawi tries to move into full mount but can't pass Pugsley's legs. Alawi trying to control the action but Pugsley is working from the bottom. Pugsley trying to remain calm as Alawi controls from the top position.
Alawi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Alawi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Alawi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Pugsley is looking for a sweep.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Pugsley trying to remain calm as Alawi controls from the top position. Pugsley tries to get back to half guard but can't. The referee asks Alawi politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Alawi prefers to stall for the moment though. Alawi working away. Alawi tries to move into full mount but can't pass Pugsley's legs. Alawi passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Pugsley! Pugsley is squirming around, avoiding Alawi's attempts to control the action. Alawi prevents Pugsley from getting the reversal.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Alawi looking to control but Pugsley is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Alawi working for a submission but Pugsley is keeping him at bay. Pugsley tries to hold on but Alawi pushes him away. Pugsley is desperately trying to improve his position but Alawi has a good base and remains in mount. Pugsley wants to hold on but Alawi pushes him away. Alawi trying to control but he's not successful this time. Alawi is really struggling to control Pugsley but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Pugsley slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Alawi passes to side control. Pugsley tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Alawi wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Alawi tries to move into full mount but can't pass Pugsley's legs. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Pugsley is not content to let Alawi control the position. Alawi takes a little break here. Pugsley wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Tahboule Alawi dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Alawi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Alawi lands in his opponent's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Alawi stays in close to Pugsley's body and controls the position. Alawi wants to control from the top but Pugsley keeps moving. Alawi is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Alawi forces his way into half guard. Alawi looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Alawi's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Alawi is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Pugsley is not content to let Alawi control the position. Alawi is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Pugsley reverses the position - he's now on top in Alawi's guard. Pugsley pushing down on Alawi's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Alawi slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Pugsley passes Alawi's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Pugsley prevents Alawi from improving his position.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Pugsley is trying to control. Alawi wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Alawi has his hands clasped together around Pugsley's back. He's all about the action. Alawi gets full guard. Alawi controls Pugsley momentarily but Pugsley frees himself. Alawi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Alawi not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Pugsley in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Pugsley scoring with some ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tahboule Alawi. I think Alawi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
