Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Hestler shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Williams's guard. Hestler is aware though and is defending well. Williams is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Williams has his foot on Hestler's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hestler works his way back into a safe position though. Hestler won't allow Williams to sweep him here. Hestler controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Hestler pulls Williams in close to prevent any damage. Williams slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Hestler is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Hestler is trying to control but Williams manages to pass to mount!

Hestler is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Hestler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Williams keeping moving, preventing Hestler from controlling successfully. Hestler not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Hestler taking a breather here. Hestler's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Williams's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Williams is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Hestler trying to pass the guard but Williams defending well. Hestler keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Let's hope that Hestler has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Williams wants to get back to full guard.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Hestler looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Williams tries to get to full guard but Hestler has control of the leg. Williams is trying to maintain the position but Hestler is very close to passing his half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Williams's face as Hestler controls the position. Williams can't do much from the bottom here. Hestler staying calm. Williams tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hestler wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Williams is being controlled here. It looks like Hestler might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Williams manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Williams is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hestler's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hestler's back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Williams (12) vs (10) Hestler
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Hestler trying to control the hands but Williams breaks the grip. Hestler staying busy and making it hard for Williams to control. Hestler rolls, trying to escape but Williams keeps control of the position.
Hestler is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Williams off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. A lull in the action here.
