Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ronaldez Reno (ranked 4474 p4p, 24729 weight class) and Rafael Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rafael Gracie looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ronaldez Reno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reno throws a series of strikes that have Gracie backpedaling.
Gracie looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Reno throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gracie stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Reno shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Reno performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reno trying to control the action but Gracie is working from the bottom.

Reno looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Well, if Reno is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Reno bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Gracie's head backwards.
Gracie gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Reno tries to bum rush Gracie with a series of wild strikes but Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Good exchange - Reno coming out on top.

Gracie shoots in for a double leg but Reno sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Reno with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Reno fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Reno tests Gracie's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Reno closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gracie quickly recovers to half guard.

Reno is working for a kimura but Gracie is defending it quite comfortably.
Gracie wants to control but Reno is keeping busy.
Gracie is not content to let Reno control the position.

Reno is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gracie is just riding it out for now. Reno eventually gives up the hold.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Reno knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.

Gracie is refusing to be controlled, as Reno sits in half guard.
Reno looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Gracie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Reno pulls his head out easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Reno slows the pace down in half guard.
Reno is trying to control the action in half guard but Gracie is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Reno catches Gracie with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Reno clobbers Gracie with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Reno fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Gracie on the side of the head.

Reno moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Reno shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Reno showed some decent athleticism there.
Reno wants to control but Gracie is keeping him busy.

Gracie looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Reno with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Gracie actively working from the bottom here.
Reno content to control rather than advance.

Gracie is staying active underneath Reno, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Reno is working for a kimura but Gracie is defending it quite comfortably.

Reno stands up out of the half guard.
Gracie walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Gracie looks for a takedown but Reno sprawls well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gracie takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Reno pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Gracie back to the cage. Reno follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Gracie shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
A left lands for Reno.
Reno looks to land a combination but Gracie avoids it well.

Reno fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gracie sprawls well initially but Reno persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Reno perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Reno is trying to control the action in half guard but Gracie is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Reno is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Gracie has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Reno is working away from the top position though.

Reno is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Reno is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gracie sees it coming and defends easily.

Reno is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gracie defends it well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Reno wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gracie keeps working.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Reno fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Jab from Reno.

Reno feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Reno's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Reno's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Reno defends it easily.
Reno controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Gracie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Reno has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Gracie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Reno can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Reno bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Good standup being displayed there by Reno as he connects with a hook.

Reno scores with a takedown into Gracie's guard.
Gracie trying to control the position.
Gracie can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Reno controls the pace.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ronaldez Reno showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Reno has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
